The St. Matt’s School Choir performed at Peace Proms in the RDS on Saturday 4th February. What a wonderful experience it was, with 2500 children in the choir from all across Leinster, and over 4000 in the audience!

Peace Proms is a free, cross-border choral educational project for children in primary schools in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. We were sent the music and choreography in October and we have been rehearsing since then! We had one big rehearsal with our amazing conductor, Greg Beardsell, in December, and then we rehearsed with the fantastic Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland just before our concert on Saturday, along with all the other schools.
Everyone had a fantastic time, and sang and danced our hearts out – even the teachers! Songs ranged from Brothers in Arms to I’m a Believer from Shrek, from Hall of Fame by the Script to a Kids’ Dance and Pop Medley! We even choreographed some of our moves ourselves as a school! We also got to sit back during the concert and enjoy some orchestral pieces and some amazing pipers, drummers and dancers. We finished by singing the Peace Proms anthem, ‘You’re the Voice’, which reminds us that we can all make a difference if we don’t live in silence or fear but speak out and use our voices.
We would like to thank all the organisers of Peace Proms who put SO much work into making it all happen. Check out the hashtag #peaceproms23 on social media to hear some of the songs and to experience how incredible a night it was. We won’t forget it in a hurry!
