Clay in 5th

5th Class have been busy working with clay in Art over the past few weeks.

They have been learning about the Great Famine in History and discovering all the causes and effects of the devastating period of Irish history.

To link in with this topic, Ms Gilmer gave the class a task to make either a Famine Coffin Ship or Famine Cottage from the clay.

Initially, the clay was tough to work with but after some time, it softened and the class was able to create their chosen piece.

Once dry, the class painted their figures.

A very successful block of Art lessons!
