Students in St. Matthew’s took part in the annual Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal this year. This sends shoeboxes filled with toys, clothes, stationery and hygiene products out to children in 12 different countries in Eastern Europe and Africa who are living in poverty or hard situations. We watched a video and heard stories of children who received these shoeboxes last year. For some it was the only present they had ever received, some loved having their very own toothpaste for the very first time, and one little boy didn’t take off the sunglasses he had been sent all day! All were extremely grateful and it was great to see the smiles of pure joy on their faces; we were all very affected by it. It was wonderful to see 126 shoeboxes come in from St. Matthew’s this year – that will bring joy to 126 children this Christmas, and make their lives better. Thank you to all of you!
