Peace Proms 2016

On Sunday night, 7th February, 4th class along with Ms Cavanagh and Mrs Griffin performed in the RDS for the 2016 Peace Proms. At the Peace proms we, along with 2000 other children sang as part of a choir to the Cross Border Orchestra under the control of conductor Greg Beardsell. We all agree it was unforgettable night full of song, laughter and fun. 4th class have been practicing for this night for the past few months and even went to a workshop last month in Swords Co. Dublin in preparation for the concert. The songs being sang were very enjoyable and some even had actions to dance along with – Imagine, Ireland’s Call, Touch the Sky, World in Union and Power of the Dream to name but a few.

I would like to extend a huge thanks to all parents who supported our participation in peace proms by allowing their child to attend and partake, and for some parents who took time from their Sunday evenings to attend the concert. It truly was an amazing experience not only to sing along but to see a true orchestra perform. The focus of peace proms is to bring everyone together and we all experienced this togetherness on Sunday evening.

4th class did an excellent performance and I am so proud of them, they should all be proud of themselves too. Finally, this would not have been able to go ahead without the guidance of our choir expert Mrs Griffin. Mrs Griffin spent hours working with 4th class ensuring they were ready and prepared to sing as part of a choir – Thank you very much.

All ready :)
