This year with Artzone we made clay birds. First we started with the base, which was a stone or a log. We spent time working with the clay to mould it to the shape we wanted. Then we shaped the body and the tail, then added the head. We had to be careful to ensure no loose parts would fall off as the clay dried! Our Artzone helpers gave us special help to shape the beak and the eyes. They also demonstrated how to make the wings and add detail. Finally, we painted the birds, starting with the light colors. We really enjoyed Artzone this year and are already looking forward to next year’s project!
