Fun-Filled First Term!

It has been a busy and fun-filled first term in 2nd Class!

This year we celebrated ‘International Dot Day’ on 15th September 2022. International Dot Day is celebrated every year on the 15th of September. This holiday was created by a teacher named Terry Shay back in 2009 as a way of celebrating creativity, courage, and collaboration. The whole event is inspired by a children’s book called ‘The Dot’, which is written by Peter H. Reynolds. We enjoyed reading the story and creating our own individual pieces of Art by starting with just one dot and seeing where our imaginations took us. We had so much fun!

On the 14th of October 2022, we celebrated GOAL Jersey Day. GOAL Jersey Day sees communities across Ireland come together to wear their favourite jerseys and raise money for GOAL. We all wore our favourite jerseys into school that day and we raised €424.74 which is fantastic! We are very proud of our school.

We created so much ‘Spooktacular’ Art for Halloween this year. We loved decorating our classroom with our own Halloween creations. Before we finished up for our midterm break, we got to dress up in our Halloween costumes. We took part in a Halloween parade, watched a Halloween movie, played some Halloween games and ate loads of treats! John and Zoe won 2nd and 3rd prize in the school ‘Guess the Jar’ competition. We had such an enjoyable day!
