Handwashing Experiment in 1st Class

1st Class did an experiment to see how much dirt and germs are on our hands.

We took one piece of white bread which we passed around.  Everyone had a chance to touch it to spread their germs onto it. We put this bread into a ziplock bag.

Then Miss Dunne took another piece that we hadn’t touched and put that into a different ziplock bag.

Within a week or so we could see the bread that we touched was turning mouldy while the one we hadn’t touched was still ok! After 2 weeks the bread we touched was so mouldy! While the other only had specks of mould!

It’s very important to wash our hands! We agreed that we should wash them with soap for as long as you can hum the tune ‘Happy Birthday’!
