We have been learning about different playground games in P.E. We created our own games in teams. We had to decide what equipment we needed. Then we wrote step by step instructions of how to play the game. Then we taught another group how to play our game.
During Seachtain na Gaeilge we did some Céilí dancing, we learnt Ballaí Luimní (Walls of Limerick). These are some photos of our céilí dancing.
We listened to The Moldau by Bedrich Smetana. We learnt about the different parts of the music. It is about the journey a river takes. These are our pictures of some of the main parts. Then we accompanied the music with percussion instruments and clapped the rhythm. We really enjoyed it.
We have been learning about Antarctica and the explorers that raced to be the first to reach the south pole, including Roald Amundsen’s team and Captain Scott’s Team. An Irish man, Tom Crean was part of Captain Scott’s team. In Drama we acted out some scenes and freeze frames from Tom Crean’s life.

We drew a silhouette of a tree and a bird. Then we mixed colours, to make a night sky, and painted around our supermoon. We then painted the silhouette of the tree and bird.
We dressed up for Hallowe’en…we really enjoyed getting our costumes together. This year we chose a different character from a Roald Dahl book. Can you recognise who is who?!
For Space Week, we had a visitor who taught us how to build a rocket out of a 2 litre bottle. Then afterwards we tested the rockets to see how high they went into the sky. It was so much fun!
On Monday 14th November, James and Janet from Team Hope returned to collect the shoe boxes we had collected in St. Matthews. They were very impressed and went to each class to thank them for their generosity. Altogether we collect 119 shoe boxes; so many that they could barely fit them all into their car!…
We learnt how animations are made. First you have to draw lots of pictures to tell a story. Then you put all the pictures together to make a film. We made our own flip book. It was really fun.
